Between 2014 and 2023, NSW Restricted Game Hunting Licence (R-Licence) holders were required to complete some additional training before they were given access to book a written permission to hunt on public land.
The additional training is now included in the R-Licence Accreditation Course, so new licence holders do not need to complete any extra steps.The tutorial covers important information all R-Licence holders must know before hunting on public land, including:navigationgeneral written permission conditionssigns you may see in State forests.Existing R-Licence holders
If you have already completed the additional training, you do not need to take any action.
If you have not completed the additional training, please watch the public land hunting tutorial, and complete the declaration before 30 November 2023.
Expired R-Licence holders
If you would like to renew your Game Hunting Licence at some point in the future, please note:if you renew and complete the additional training before 30 November 2023, you will not be required to complete the new R-Licence Accreditation Course.if you renew after 30 November 2023, you will be required to complete the new R-Licence Accreditation Course before your licence can be granted.if you renew before 30 November 2023, but do not complete the additional training, you will be required to complete the new R-Licence Accreditation Course before your licence can be renewed.New R-licence applicants
If you completed the old course but didn’t apply for an R-Licence, you should apply for your licence no later than 10 November 2023 to allow for our 20 days processing time. If your licence is approved, this will give you time to complete the additional training before the cut-off date on 30 November 2023.

Please ensure this is completed before the due date or you will be required to complete the new R-Licence Accreditation Course before DPI Hunting can process your licence.

To complete the additional training: Login to Online Licence Holder Services using your licence number and security PIN Select ‘Watch the public land hunting video tutorial’ option from the main menu. Once you have watched the tutorial, complete the declaration. You will then have access to book a written permission and will not need to complete the new R-Licence Accreditation Course before renewal.
