2022 Game and Feral Animal Control Regulation

By Webpage Development

The Game and Feral Animal Control regulation 2022 (GFAC 2022) has been published to the NSW legislation website and is now in force. The NSW Government considered all feedback received through the public consultation on the draft regulation in formulating GFAC 2022. Only minor amendments have been made, compared to the Game and Feral Animal Control Regulation 2012, but includes changes that all licence holders need to be aware of:

  • Removal of redundance clauses relating to deer hunting (including deer hunting seasons)
  • Formalisation of the grounds for suspending or cancelling a game hunting licence, including the application of a fit and proper person test at any time during the licence period.
  • Specific detail in relation to the grounds for refusal of licence based on previous offences to improve clarity and objectivity of what applications must be refused.
  • Reduction of the maximum term of a Native Game Bird Management (Owner/Occupier) Licence to one year to align with the annual native game bird quota allocation.
  • An exemption from the motor vehicle definition to allow people with disabilities that prevents them from hunting on foot to use a wheelchair for hunting.

Suspension of Attendances COVID-19

By Webpage Development

The Firearms Amendment (COVID-19) Regulation 2020, has recently been introduced and is now in force.  This Regulation is here to assist the NSW firearms community in managing their firearms responsibilities while COVID-19 health orders are in place.

The Regulation recognises that there are some compliance functions that licence holders may not be able to perform due to social distancing measures, such as club participation shoots.  In addition, the Regulation creates exemptions in relation to certain required time periods specified in the Firearms Act 1996, in circumstances where a person is restricted or prevented from complying with those periods because of an order made under Section 7 of the Public Health Act 2010 relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the provisions of Part 3, Modifications relating to participation requirements for club members, I confirm that participation requirements for club members has been extended a further 12 months. However, it must be noted that the provisions of this Regulation are only relevant whilst there is a current order under Section 7 of the Public Health Act 2010 relating specifically to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Invitation to shoot

By Webpage Development

I invite your members to call at our range for a shot if you are in the vicinity.

Our range is between Tuncurry/Forster and Taree- Bayel Drive runs West off Pacific Highway exactly 5 km south of Taree/Old bar 12km South of Taree

We shoot .22Rimfire rifle and Air Rifle Saturday 9am, Sunday 9am & Tuesday 8am (our biggest day) and .22Rimfire pistol and Air Pistol Sunday 1pm. Our competitions are fairly informal (safety is not).

We shoot two classes, Target Rifle (the normal Benchrest specifications) and Hunting Rifle (our local rules which have been copied and are now used by most of the Northern NSW clubs) – must be a rifle meant for hunting -no modifications apart from scopes, butt extensions and shortening.

Usually shoot two competitions at a time one for score 10 shots and one for groups two groups of 5 shots averaged with as many sighter's as you want – for each class of rifle

We shoot 25metres, 50 metres, 50 metres again (with different 25 shot match target) , and 100 metres changing distance each week. We also shoot Koorainghat Green Ant at 100Metres, Chook Shoots 25 & 50 Metres, and 25 Metre scoped Air Rifle.

All Targets are our own design except for BR30 and most of Northern NSW clubs are now using our targets instead of SSAA or Small Bore targets.

Pistol targets are also our design but we shoot the normal matches. We have 15 right and left handed rifle benches and 10 pistol targets Costs $6 to shoot which
includes targets, tea coffee, biscuits. Gas Stove and BBQ available.

All facilities are wheelchair friendly. We have one quadriplegic, one paraplegic, one double amputee (one arm one leg) and numerous decrepit old men (and women) in walkers and crutches. 3 of our regular shooters are in their nineties.
